Can Lindsay come over to play?

Today, those were magic words to my ears...Just as I was setting off for a day of fun-filled errands - getting Lindsay's birth certificate for pre-school, visiting the DMV, picking up doggie meds at the vet, the ever wonderful "Ms. Glinchy" called and said that Hannah wanted Lindsay to come and play! HOORAY! Quickly we turned around, and Lindsay was soon happily trotting up the stairs to play with Hannah, while I grew ever excited at the prospect of actually accomplishing these errands without a cranky four-year-old in tow, and - gasp! - I could actually manage to sneak in a quick drive-through lunch with the husband. All of a sudden, a day of dreaded stops and gos seemed bearable!
Remarkably, getting the birth certificates went smoothly, at least the person at the window spoke English!, and so off I was to meet John..Traffic flowed well, and then we were actually able to get through Taco Bell at a reasonable pace, and then - screeeecccchhhh - the DMV. We walk in and pull number 29 - however, they are at number 97. So we settle in, and then John left to go run another errand, and by the time he came back, I was at the window, and remarkably the person was helpful and efficient - strange, but pleasant! John and I then headed back to his work, and off to the vet I went.
Now, this was an errand that even if John did not have to work, he would not have tagged along on this one. Small office, dogs barking and shedding, and me spending money on the poochies flea control and heartworm meds. The sticker shock on the well-visit for the tortoise was enough to have him steer clear from the vet's for the foreseeable future. The vet also went smoothly, and I was in and out and on the way home! All of this by 2:30, including getting gas for the car, and home with 1/2 hour to spare before the kids invaded after school!
After John got out we were able to go out and get some dinner, corned beef and all - rockin' the green shamrock gear of course!
All in all, errands and all, one headache and a vicodin later, a nice day...Happy Saint Patrick's Day Everyone! Life is Good!
